Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Muncagota 2021 is one of the most elegant and aromatic wines of the Produttori del Barbaresco Riserva collection, reflecting the unique character of the Muncagota cru. This vineyard, located in the Barbaresco appellation, is famous for its calcareous soils and cooler microclimate, which give the ‘Nebbiolo’ grapes an exceptional aromatic refinement, freshness and precise tannin structure. Muncagota is often considered one of the most delicate and elegant Barbaresco crus, where power is always combined with grace.

The aroma reveals notes of dried rose petals, wild herbs, mint, rosemary, eucalyptus and forest floor. They are complemented by cherries, raspberries, blood orange peel and subtle spice tones. Muncagota wines are characterized by an expressive mint and balsamic herb character, which is one of the distinguishing features of this cru.

The wine is concentrated, energetic. The fruitiness of the red berries is accompanied by lively acidity, fine, firm tannins and a long mineral aftertaste.

The wine is made from 100% ‘Nebbiolo’ grapes, fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 36 months in large traditional oak barrels (botti grandi).

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16-18 °C. Food pairing: truffle-flavored pasta, slow-braised veal, duck, pheasant, beef cheek, mature hard cheeses.

Balsamic style jumps out of the glass, with herb, eucalyptus and potpourri aromas alongside watermelon and mint-filled chocolate. The graceful attack shows ripe, elegant tannins, larger-grained in the end, with long, refreshing acidity and a savory finish. March 2026 release. Drink or hold.

About brand

Produttori del Barbaresco, founded in 1958, now has 51 members and controls more than 100 hectares of premium Nebbiolo vineyards in Barbaresco. Each family is in full control of its land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with centuries old skill and dedication. The vinery produces a Barbaresco DOCG, a blend of Nebbiolo grapes harvested from different vineyards, and a simpler Nebbiolo Langhe suited for earlier consumption. In great vintages, nine single-vineyard Barbarescos are produced from nine classic premium sites within the Barbaresco village boundaries: Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajè, Montefico, Muncagota, and Rio Sordo. These are the geographical names of sites where Nebbiolo grapes have always been cultivated. The name of the single-vineyards, the total number of bottles produced, and the name of the owners of the vineyards are marked on the labels. Produttori del Barbaresco, which vinifies only Nebbiolo grapes, produce around 550 000 bottles per year. In a good vintage they are divided among Barbaresco (50%), single vineyard Barbarescos (30%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (20%).
