Raudonasis sausas
This classic red wine is an exemplary expression of the Aglianico grape from Taurasi, the viticultural history and culture of the province of Avelino. Vintage after vintage, the wine retains the personality that has made it famous throughout the world: it is vibrant and has excellent structure. The wine comes from two vineyards: the Montemarano area, with its south-eastern exposure and clay soil, and the Mirabella Eclano area, with its south-western exposure and loamy soil. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 450m. The term Radici means 'root'.
The harvest is handpicked. Long maceration about 25 days at a controlled temperature 22-24°C. Aged for 24 months in French and Slavonian oak and 24 months in bottle.
A wide and rich bouquet of aromas: cherries, plums, blueberries, dried cranberries, nutmeg, allspice, frankincense, incense, mushroom. Enveloping and elegant in the mouth.
Serve at 18 °C with roasted red meat, game dishes (stews with wild mushrooms/mushrooms), pork ragu, mature cheeses.
Bright ruby red with a slightly lightening edge. On the nose of ripe cherries and dark wild berries, echo of violets, leather and undergrowth, very complex. Fresh and salty on the palate, with fine-grained and well-integrated tannin, lots of ripe fruit, long finish.
The Mastroberardino family, leaders in Italian viticulture, are largely responsible for the revival and elevation of Irpinian and Campanian winemaking post WWII. Their efforts ignited a resurgence in quality red and white wine production in all of Southern Italy. Working primarily with Campania's ancient, native varietals, Fiano, Greco, and Aglianico, Mastroberardino has resuscitated would-be extinct grapes into world class varieties.
