The history of Protos dates back to 1927, when 11 winegrowers formed a cooperative and became the first winery in the Ribera del Duero region. The company currently owns 700 hectares of its own vineyards and another 700 hectares are owned by vine growers. In almost a century of history, the number of wine growers has grown to 270, and Bodegas Protos has become a world-renowned brand.
