The 1998 "Kracher" vintage, with its abundance of botrytis, can be considered legendary.
The texture of this wine reveals itself through creamy accents. The aromas are dominated by notes of coconut and baked apple.
On the palate, you can sense notes of pineapple, fresh oranges and citrus.
Residual sugar content 120 g/l
Serve at 10–12 °C with baked pears, lemon soufflé or apple pie.
The oak, vanilla, toast, acacia blossom, and creme brulee-scented 1998 Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague Number 9 is an intensely sweet, fat, and candied wine. Full-bodied and powerful, this is a dense (yet harmonious) offering jam-packed with sugar-coated oranges, candied apples, and honey. Its seemingly unending finish reveals additional layers of luxurious jellied fruits. Drink this exceptional wine over the next 25-30 years.
The Kracher winery in Austria is located next to Lake Neusiedl. It is one of the few places in the world where practically every year it is possible to grow and harvest a proper harvest affected by noble rot and to produce sweet wines. It is the sweet Kracher wines that have gained worldwide recognition and various titles, the producer himself has been recognized as the winemaker of the year five times, and one of the most famous wine critic Robert Parker rates Kracher wines the highest (the only Austrian wine is rated 100 points!). Kracher wine is characterized by harmony, as the sweetness is offset and balanced by refreshing acids, and the most complex wines are exceptionally long-lasting and become an object of collection.
