The aromatic profile is clear and layered: blackcurrants, cherries, and blackberries intertwine with notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, graphite, and a subtle smoky nuance, all classic signatures of Pessac-Léognan. With aeration, hints of spice, cocoa, gentle earthiness, and herbal nuances emerge, adding depth and composure to the bouquet.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, structured, yet elegant. The tannins are ripe and silky, while the acidity is lively and precise, preserving freshness and fruit clarity. The vineyards of Château Picque Caillou are planted on the gravel and sandy soils of Graves, allowing vines to root deeply and imparting the wine’s characteristic smoky–mineral expression.
The harvest is carried out by hand. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, carefully balanced to enhance structure while preserving fruit purity and finesse.
