Domaine Rolet l'Etoile Chardonnay 2023

40,00

Description

“Domaine Rolet l'Étoile Chardonnay 2023” is a highly elegant white wine from the French Jura region, originating from the prestigious L'Étoile appellation.

The nose is first met with light aromas of dried fruits, toasted almonds, and peanuts, testifying to its masterful aging in oak barrels. The palate is dominated by fresh yet rich notes of ripe orchard apples, lemons, and pears. A perfectly balanced creamy texture grants the wine exceptional complexity, crowned by a long-lasting, mineral, and elegant touch of sea salt on the finish, reminiscent of the historical seabed origins of these hills.

The ‘Chardonnay’ grapes dedicated to this creation are grown on the picturesque hills near the town of Lons-le-Saunier. The small but prestigious “L'Étoile” (French for star) appellation derives its name and unique character from a special soil rich in tiny star-shaped marine fossils called pentacrines. It is precisely this exceptional terroir and the meticulous work of the “Domaine Rolet” estate that make this wine a true discovery for lovers of classic white wines.

Right up until bottling, the wine is slowly aged in oak for one year. This classic method preserves the freshness of the ‘Chardonnay’, enriching it with subtle nuances of maturity while avoiding the strong oxidation typical of the region.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 12–14 °C with lobster, sea bass, roast duck with apples, or roasted chicken.

About brand

Domaine Rolet was founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet before being passed on to his children. Today, the Domaine's vines average 45 years old and span 65ha across the Jura region of Eastern France, with vineyards in the AOCs of Arbois, Cotes du Jura, l'Etoile, and Chateau-Chalon.Classic Jura varieties are planted across steep slopes on appropriate soils; Chardonnay (light marls), Savagnin (grey marls), Poulsard (red & blue marls), Trousseau (heavy gravels) and Pinot Noir (light marls). Vines are tended through organic farming practices, and hand-harvested each year producing yields between 15-50 hl. Further sorting ensures that only the best quality grapes are seen through to barrel. Most wines are aged for around 18 months in oak, replacing a quarter of their barrels each year. The resulting wines have gained the Domaine a reputation for excellence with wine professionals and drinkers alike with their purity and concentration.
