The History and Traditions of Château Haut-Ferrand

The history of this unique estate began in 1902 when Jean-Baptiste Gasparoux started his wine trade business. In 1975, Fernand Gasparoux acquired additional plots on the prestigious Pomerol plateau and officially founded Château Haut-Ferrand. Today, the estate is managed by the fourth generation, successfully blending classic Bordeaux winemaking traditions with a responsible, forward-thinking ecological approach.

Unique Pomerol Terroir and Winemaking

The vineyards are located in the southern and southeastern parts of the Pomerol plateau. The soil is a fascinating mosaic of clay and gravel mixed with iron oxide (crasse de fer), which imparts the signature velvety softness and structural depth typical of great Pomerol wines. The plantings consist of approximately 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

The family pays profound attention to soil regeneration: the estate holds HVE3 and ISO 14001 certifications, and since 2021, has officially applied organic farming standards. In the cellar, the focus is on balance and elegance, avoiding over-extraction, and the wine is carefully aged in premium French oak barrels.

Food Pairings

Over the years, this harmonious wine develops complex aromas of dark berries, truffles, and forest floor. It pairs magnificently with game dishes, dry-aged beef steaks, and robust hard cheeses. Enhance your tasting experience by exploring our curated selection of wine snacks.
