Red dry
The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, one third of which are renewed each year. The aromas unfold through notes of ripe fruits and game, lending the wine an elegance and harmony characteristic of the great wines of the Pomerol region. The Château Haut-Ferrand vineyard, located at the heart of the Pomerol plateau, covers approximately 4.5 hectares, with soils composed of gravel and clay.
Serve at 16–18 °C with beef, lamb, duck, game stews, roasted meat and aged cheeses.
Jean-Baptiste Gasparoux, born in 1874 in Davignac, France, began trading wine in Libourne in 1902, laying the foundations of Château Ferrand. His son Fernand Gasparoux fulfilled his dream of becoming a winegrower and acquired Château Ferrand in 1934. Over the years, the estate expanded to 12 hectares and earned an excellent reputation. In 1975, Fernand acquired additional vineyards on the Pomerol plateau and established Château Haut Ferrand. Today, the Château is managed by Henry Gasparoux, who took over in 1981, together with his sons Jean-Pascal and Philippe, and his grandson Matthieu. Together, they uphold the family's winemaking traditions while embracing a modern and environmentally responsible approach. Since 2019, Château Ferrand has held HEV3 and ISO 14001 certifications, underscoring their commitment to sustainable practices. In 2021, the Château began applying organic farming standards, using natural fertilizers and focusing primarily on soil regeneration.
