Baltasis sausas
The wine is made from low-yielding, old (planted in 1974) Chenin Blanc vineyards. The grapes are harvested when fully ripe. The soil is rich in iron, clay and sand. The wine is all fermented with native yeasts, spontaneously in large 400 litre French oak barrels and aged for 10-12 months, before careful selection of the best barrels and assemblage.
Matthew Duke spontaneously contributed to the wine’s name, The FMC, which described the wine as “This is frickin marvelous chenin”. Heavy, intense, mineral dry white wine smells of dried apricots, honey and vanilla. Wine with a very good maturity potential.
Serve at 10-12 °C with spiced dishes, mild seafood, shellfish or curries. Great with exotic Eastern spiced foods.
Aromas of white peaches, apricots, white tea and lavender. Medium- to full-bodied with supple texture. Linear with lees complexity and density. Saline undertones. Pleasantly rounded on the palate with very good length and steadiness. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
"Our idea was simple - to create the best wine. We didn't have anything to show for the first four or five years," says Ken Forrester. But when he brought a bottle of wine to London for Mattew Duke, he got an incredible reaction from him. It was an expression of Chenin Blanc from South Africa unknown to wine experts. Matthew Duke was not restrained and described this wine as "This is frickin marvelous chenin." The philosophy of this winery is very simple: to produce the best wines. Although not certified, Ken Forrester wines are produced in an effort to meet sustainable and environmentally friendly standards.
