Red dry
The iconic Ridge “Geyserville” is a classic field blend of traditional Zinfandel complemented by Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet. It is one of Ridge’s most age-worthy wines, renowned for maintaining its depth, structure, and character even after a decade in the bottle.
The aroma opens with ripe cranberry and blackcurrant notes. On the palate, the wine reveals lush strawberries, touches of cocoa, and clove spice. A vibrant line of acidity balances the generous fruit expression, leading into a long, persistent finish.
Serve at 16–18 °C with wild boar steak, beef tenderloin, hearty red-meat stews with wild mushrooms, or aged cheeses. It also pairs beautifully with Sonoma duck breast with almonds and figs, pulled-pork and vegetable burgers, and herb-roasted turkey dishes.
Though born in the early sixties (In 1962, Ridge made its first Monte Bello, two years later - Zinfandel) to the post-Prohibition world of modern California winemaking, Ridge relies on nature and tradition rather than technology. Our pre-industrial approach is straightforward: find intense, flavorful grapes; intrude upon the process only when necessary; draw the fruit’s distinctive character and richness into the wine.Interestingly, Monte Bello has often been called America’s First Growth, as it is the finest domestic example of a classic Bordeaux blend in which cabernet sauvignon predominates.
