Red dry
The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand from an area of just 0.82 hectares, located in 4 vineyards in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges zone near the Vosne zone: Les Athées, Les Lavières, Les Bas De Combe, La Perrière-Noblet. The result of the coupage of these vineyards is the aroma of dark berries and a bright, well-balanced taste. The wine is elegant, and more often reminiscent of Vosne-Romanee wines than the earthy, spicy style of Nuits-St-Georges.
Serve at 14-16 °C with roasted duck breast, partridge or pheasant.
The roots of Domaine Michel Gros, located in Vosne-Romanée, trace back to 1830 when the first member of the Gros family settled here and established their estate in the very heart of the Côte de Nuits. Subsequent generations continued to expand the estate's holdings with dedication, which today encompass 23 hectares. The estate's distinctive pride is the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Clos des Réas," which the Gros family has owned as a monopole since its acquisition in 1860. Today, Pierre Gros, the seventh generation of this winemaking dynasty, supported by his father Michel, continues and develops the work begun by their ancestors. Passionate yet rigorous, Pierre constantly oversees the creation of his wines, meticulously controlling all stages of production – from vine cultivation to bottling.
Wine Style
Domaine Michel Gros wines are characterized by elegance, subtlety, and a superb reflection of the Vosne-Romanée and other prestigious Burgundy terroirs. Great emphasis is placed on the unique character of the ‘Pinot Noir’ variety and the elegance of ‘Chardonnay’.
Prestigious Vineyards
Domaine Michel Gros possesses exceptional vineyards in prestigious locations within the Côte de Nuits and Hautes-Côtes de Nuits.
Great attention is paid to vineyard care throughout the year, employing sustainable viticulture methods to ensure optimal ripening of the ‘Pinot Noir’ and ‘Chardonnay’ grapes and the highest quality of wine.
Aging and Drinking Period
Domaine Michel Gros wines exhibit excellent balance and elegance, allowing them to be enjoyed both young and mature. The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Clos des Réas" and other high-end red wines possess great potential for long aging, during which their complexity, subtle tannins, and elegant aromas unfold. The white wines are often fresh and enjoyable in their youth, although some higher-end ‘Chardonnay’ can also gain further complexity with bottle aging.
