This famous estate has an impressive history and deep winemaking traditions, making it one of the most prestigious producers of Pomerol wines. The history of the winery begins with the Mähler-Besse family, who acquired Château Latour in 1917 and began to modernize and improve the quality of this wine. The Mähler-Besse family ensured that the wine remained of the highest standard, and the estate remained in their hands for several generations. In 2003, the estate was sold to the LVMH group (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), led by Bernard Arnault. Since then, the LVMH group has continued to nurture the winery's traditions and quality, maintaining its prestige and reputation worldwide.

Château Latour owns prestigious vineyards acquired in the 19th century. In the Pomerol region, these vineyards occupy the highest position and are characterized by unique geology and climate, which give the wines a distinctive character. The winery's main vineyards include:
Merlot – the main variety, whose grapes ensure the depth and flavor of the wines.
Pomerol – sandy and clay soils with a high iron content, which give the wines warmth and intensity.
The winery's vineyards cover about 7 hectares and are known for their terrain and exceptional growing conditions. In addition, the quality of the wines heavily depends on the quality of the 'Merlot' variety, which predominates in this region.
Wine Style
The wines from Château Latour are characterized by elegance, balance, and a wonderful complexity of aromas, which reveal not only the uniqueness of the vineyards but also their unique terroir expression. The wines are perfectly balanced and refined. 'Merlot' gives the wines a smooth but powerful tannic base, while French oak adds a subtle hint of vanilla and toasted nuts. They are extremely aromatic and balanced, making them perfect for consumption both young and mature.
Aging and Consumption Period
The wines from Château Latour have great aging potential and can develop wonderfully. During aging, they acquire even deeper and more complex aromas. Due to the moderate use of oak, the wines mature well and maintain their quality for a long time.
