The story of Domaine Albert de Conti dates back to the 1920s, when Vincenzo de Conti left Italy and settled in southwest France. He laid the foundation for a family winemaking tradition that still thrives today in the Bergerac region. In 1963, his son Albert planted the first vines in the area of Saint-Julien d’Eymet, and in 1990, Francis de Conti expanded the family vision by establishing Château Tour des Gendres – now one of the most renowned wineries in Bergerac.
Today, the estate is run by the new generation – Guillaume and Paul de Conti – together with winemaker Yann Lecoindre. They not only continue the family legacy but also bring a modern approach by combining organic and biodynamic farming with agroforestry practices. Their mission is to craft natural wines that express terroir and reflect the balance of healthy soils and surrounding biodiversity.
Wines from Domaine Albert de Conti are defined by natural purity, elegance, and energy. They are made with minimal intervention, respecting both the grape origin and the individuality of each vintage.
White wine – primarily made from ‘Sauvignon Blanc’, ‘Sémillon’, and ‘Chenin Blanc’. These wines are fresh, with delicate fruit character, floral notes, bright acidity, and a clean, mineral finish.
Red wine – based on ‘Merlot’, ‘Malbec’, and ‘Cabernet Franc’. These are medium-bodied, fruit-forward wines with soft tannins, herbal and spicy nuances, and a core of dark berry fruit.
Domaine Albert de Conti currently farms around 30 hectares of organically certified vineyards within the Bergerac appellation.
Key vineyard sites include:
Saint-Julien d’Eymet – the family’s historic vineyard, central to the estate’s identity.
Tour des Gendres – known for producing complex, structured wines with great aging potential.
Various smaller plots planted with experimental biodynamic methods – dedicated to innovative cuvées that express terroir with precision.
These vineyards lie on clay-limestone soils, which provide ideal conditions for producing well-balanced wines with a strong sense of place.
Wines from Domaine Albert de Conti are typically aged in oak barrels or concrete tanks, depending on the style. Oak use is restrained – often with only a small percentage of new barrels – to preserve the natural character of the wine.
These wines are enjoyable in their youth thanks to their freshness and balance, though certain cuvées – especially those from ‘Tour des Gendres’ – have the potential to age gracefully for 5–8 years or more, maintaining elegance and depth over time.
