Red dry
One of the most popular and best value-for-money wines from La Rioja Alta.
This wine charms with its balanced character, freshness, and silky texture, leaving a long-lasting, intense finish. This medium-bodied wine stands out with its attractive freshness and round, silky tannins.
The grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from the Mayorita, Rebollar, and Bardal vineyards, situated at an altitude of 500-600 meters, and the vines have been growing in clay and limestone soil for over 40 years.
Juice fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged for two years: initially in new American oak barrels, and later for another year in used oak barrels, imparting complexity and refinement.
Served at 16-18 °C, it pairs well with beef, lamb or game dishes, stews and mature hard cheeses.
A classical, typical Rioja Alta red with elegant notes of vanilla, coconut, smoked spices and strawberries. Refined and suave, with fine tannins and a long, creamy finish. Juicy and elegant. Really approachable now, but give it two more years to get more mushroom complexity.
Bodegas La Rioja Alta is undoubtedly a representative of old Rioja, exceptionally valuing and cultivating the region's traditional winemaking methods. Their “Gran Reserva” wine is aged for no less than six years in barrel and a further two years in bottle before reaching the consumer, embodying patience and mastery. The high-altitude vineyards of La Rioja Alta, with their unique conditions, lend a subtlety to the wines, sometimes even reminiscent of Burgundy’s ‘Pinot Noir’. While the La Rioja Alta group also includes wineries in Galicia (Rias Baixas) and Ribera del Duero (Burgos), it is their traditional Rioja style that remains their hallmark.
