Description

Blason de l'Évangile 2020 is a wine from the renowned Pomerol appellation, situated on a plateau on the right bank of the Dordogne River, about 40 km northeast of Bordeaux. Originating from the famous Château l'Évangile-Rothschild, this wine embodies the timeless elegance and traditions of the Bordeaux region. In Pomerol, 'Merlot' grapes reign supreme, expressing themselves uniquely due to the region's characteristic clay soils.

The wine boasts a deep garnet hue. The aromas are filled with spicy notes, reminiscent of cinnamon and cardamom, transitioning into red fruit accents. On the palate, the wine is fresh, revealing nuances of fresh fruit complemented by blackberry and raspberry notes. The finish highlights elegant, silky tannins.

The grapes for Blason de l'Évangile are grown in sandy, clay, and silty soils. At the end of maceration, 80% of the wine is transferred into one-year-old French oak barrels, while 20% goes into tanks for malolactic fermentation and approximately 16 months of aging.

Serving recommendations

Serve at 16-18 °C with grilled chicken thighs, game stew or classic beef steak.
