Red dry
Located on Bordeaux’s prestigious Right Bank, Château Angélus is a legendary estate and one of Saint-Émilion’s highly coveted Premier Grand Cru Classés "A."
The Grand Vin, Château Angélus, exhibits a deep dark ruby color with a firm core, purple reflections, and a delicate brightening on the rim. The nose offers fine ripe plum fruit, blackberry fruit, delicate floral notes, candied orange zest, and a hint of nougat. On the palate, it is complex and juicy, with ripe dark berry fruit, vivid, plump tannins, and a long finish with a chocolaty touch.
Carillon d’Angélus, the estate’s Second Wine, is a Saint-Émilion wine sourced from an 18-hectare vineyard with plots spread over clay, clay-sand-limestone, and draining soils. Reflecting the estate's rigorous standards, this wine is a variable blend of 'Merlot', 'Cabernet Franc', and 'Cabernet Sauvignon' selected from different Saint-Émilion terroirs.
It is aged for 16 months in Oak (40% new).
Serve at 16-18 °C with beef or veal steak or stews, grilled red meat sausages, matured cheeses.
The name for this "Premier Grand Cru Classé" estate, Château Angélus, was given by the vineyard workers who at one time could hear the bells of three churches ringing simultaneously in the heart of the famous medieval town of Saint-Émilion. This legendary estate was founded in 1782. Eight generations of the de Boüard de Laforest family have since taken care of this exceptional property on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. Château Angélus's vines grow in an exceptional terroir: on a south-facing hillside, rich in clay, limestone, and sand soils.
