White dry
One of the most important "Grüner Veltliner" wines from the Emmerich Knoll estate, made in the warmest vineyard, where the grapes ripen best.
It smells of apples, green gooseberries, orange peel, tobacco leaves, apricots, green asparagus beans, white pepper. Powerful, mineral, with a long herbal aftertaste.
This is a "Grüner Veltliner" from a south-facing terraced plot in the Loibenberg vineyard near the village of Unterloiben. The grapes grow on loess and gneiss rock soil. The average age of the vines is 28 years.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel and old barrels, aged for 6-8 months on yeast lees.
Serve at 10-12 °C with white fish, chicken dishes and soft, fatty cheeses.
This great gruner veltliner has a wealth of stone fruits but also notes of fresh and candied pineapple plus a hint of mangoes. Then comes the astonishingly vibrant, medium-bodied palate. Such a precise and uplifting wine for all its ample concentration and restrained power, particularly in the extremely long and elegant finish. Drink or hold.

Vineyards and Production:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll vineyards grow on terraced slopes, where world-renowned "Grüner Veltliner" and "Riesling" grapes are cultivated. The unique climatic conditions of the Wachau region: warm summers and cool evenings, combined with calcareous and rocky soil conditions, create ideal conditions for growing these varieties.
The winemaking process in these farms is based on long-standing traditions and extensive knowledge of vineyard care. The winemaker adheres to natural cultivation methods to extract the authentic flavor of each vineyard, while ensuring the highest quality standards.
Wines and Classification:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll produces some of the best wines in the Wachau region, often labeled with the "Smaragd" label, which is a distinctive Wachau wine classification. These wines are characterized by exceptional longevity, flavor concentration, and complexity, often comparable to top-tier Burgundy white wines.
"Grüner Veltliner" and "Riesling" wines from Emmerich Knoll vineyards are balanced, with bright acidity, excellent fruit and mineral balance, and their flavor intensity and longevity are often internationally acclaimed.
Wine Labels and St. Urban:
Weingut Emmerich Knoll wine bottles are adorned with a baroque label depicting St. Urban, the patron saint of winemaking. This symbolizes the winemaking traditions preserved on the farm and the respect for ancient winemaking methods, passed down from generation to generation.
