Raudonasis sausas
This is a classic Château Batailley wine. Full-bodied, with well-integrated oak and a wonderful concentration of fruit. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, 55-60% of which are new.
Rich aromas of blueberries, raspberries, black currants and rose petals spread in the aroma. Complexity is provided by accents of tobacco leaves, blackberries and herbs. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, keeping freshness and energy. Structured tannins and a long aftertaste dominated by notes of dark berries and oak. Long maturation potential.
Serve at 16-18 °C with red meat, game and wild poultry dishes.
Subtle aromas of currants and fresh flowers with some tar and graphite. Medium-bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity. Very typical and bright for Pauillac. Linear and fine. Solid and tight. Well age nicely.
It is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc. The name is derived from the battle („bataille“) - that took place where the chateau and vineyard are today - during the 100-years war in the in 1452. In this battle, the French re-conquered the neighbouring Chateau Latour from the English, a crucial point in the history of Aquitaine. A few years later the first vines were planted on this historical and blood soaked grounds. Chateau Batailley’s garden was designed by Barillet-Deschamps, Napoleon III’s garden architect. In 1855 Napoleon III created the classification for the Grands Crus Classés of the Medoc. And Batailley was knighted Grand Cru.Batailley is an intensive typical Pauillac, with Cassis and very good structure. Very stable quality across the vintages due to the very old Wines.
