Named after a wild flower which grows around our winery, this is a blend based on Grecanico mixed with a small percentage of a notably aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc. It is one of Planeta’s great classics, delicately structured, and has been in production since the first vintage in 1995.
The grapes are picked by hand and transferred immediately to the winery and refrigerated at about 12-14 °C. They are then destemmed, crushed and sent to soft and rapid pressing. The must obtained remains at 3-5 °C for 4/5 days, then the clear part is decanted and ferments at about 14 °C for 18/20 days. At the end of fermentation in stainless steel tanks of 103/235 hl, after about 10 days, the wine is finally decanted, leaving it on the finest lees with weekly stirring and is then bottled.
Serve at 7-10 °C with seafood, salads, medium-intensity fish dishes and soft cheeses.
Cousin Alessio with cousins Francesca and Santi made their name Planeta a world-famous brand. The renaissance of all Sicilian winemaking is linked to the Planeta winery, which continues to this day. Local and international grape varieties are grown in different parts of the island under the most favorable conditions for grapes. Planeta has its own wineries in six Sicilian provinces, with a total of 390 hectares of vineyards and 93 hectares of olive groves. Planeta produces 21 wines and 3 premium olive oils. The wine produced in the five wineries reflects the ancient spirit of the island of Sicily and the possibilities of modern winemaking. As many as 18 wine wines were awarded three glasses (the highest rating) in the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso.
