Champagne Marc Hébrart Sélection 1er Cru Brut

52,00

Description

35% Chardonnay from Oiry and Chouilly, 65% Pinot Noir from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ vines of 45–55 years of age; fermented in stainless steel tanks; full malolactic fermentation; aged 4–4.5 years on lees; 6 g/L dosage;

A magnificent entry cuvée that articulates the inimitable talent of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ to magnificently juxtapose the elegance and the presence of Pinot Noir. For its age, Pinot Noir predominance and generous reserves, it upholds impressive freshness of Mareuil old-vine lift in precocious red cherry and red berry fruits and waves of anise and fruit mince spice. It concludes with an enticing and seamless fanfare of vibrant morello cherry acidity and wellharmonised dosage. It’s at once succulent and juicy and at the same time lively and fresh, with the pronounced salty chalk minerality of Mareuil tapped as only old vines can do.

Serving recommendations

Disgorged in May 2020, the latest release of the NV Extra-Brut Premier Cru Sélection is showing well, exhibiting aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, peach and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly layered and precise, it's charming and beautifully refined, with a somewhat more chiseled profile reflecting Hébrart's move from Brut to Extra-Brut for this bottling

About brand

Jean-Paul Hébrart took over the management of the Champagne Marc Hébrart estate from his father, Marc Hébrart, in 1997. The estate is located in the Vallée de la Marne subregion of Champagne. Marc Hébrart began producing champagne under his own name in 1964. Today, the family owns 14 hectares of vineyards spread across 65 plots in six villages: 1er Cru vineyards in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Avenay-Val-d'Or, and Bisseuil, as well as Grand Cru villages in Aÿ, Chouilly, and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs region.

The "Spécial Club Champagne" represents the highest classification level that grower-producers can achieve. Membership in this exclusive club requires strict adherence to rigorous quality standards, with an intensive, multi-stage inspection process that begins each year in early February. Marc Hébrart has been a member of Club Trésors de Champagne, also known as "Spécial Club," since 1985.

Wine Style

Hébrart Champagnes are full-bodied and expressive, yet not heavy. The entire range is of consistently high quality and offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio.

Prestigious Vineyards

The winery owns prestigious vineyards, some acquired as early as 1962. Among them, the most notable are:

  • Mareuil-sur-Aÿ 1er Cru – the winery’s primary vineyard, growing ‘Pinot Noir’ and ‘Chardonnay’ grapes.
  • Chouilly and Oiry Grand Cru – top-tier vineyards dedicated to ‘Chardonnay’ grapes.
  • Aÿ Grand Cru – a renowned vineyard known for its exceptional ‘Pinot Noir’ grapes.

These are complemented by lesser-known but uniquely expressive vineyards in Avenay-Val-d'Or and Bisseuil.

Aging and Consumption Period

Jean-Paul Hébrart Champagnes are perfectly balanced and enjoyable to drink immediately, while also having the potential to age and develop beautifully over time. For example, "Spécial Club" Champagnes are aged for 36 months before release, adding extra complexity and depth.
