Red dry
The 2016 "Latour Martillac" reveals aromas of ripe plums, kirsch (cherry liqueur) and redcurrants, subtly complemented by notes of bay leaf, iron ore and dark earth. This medium-bodied wine has a firm and fruity structure, distinguished by its fine-grained tannin accents and freshness. The long-lasting finish lends the wine an impression of exceptional elegance.
Serve at 16–18 °C with roast lamb, braised rabbit or grouse.
This is very perfumed with blackberry and blueberry aromas, but shows a hot-stone and blanched-almond undertone. Medium-to full-bodied with tight and silky tannins that are extremely polished and beautiful. Love the length and balance to this. Try after 2022. Sunday, Jan 20, 2019
The Chateau Latour-Martillac winery, which belongs to the Kressmann family, was included in the Graves Grand Cru classification in 1953, which included both the red and white Chateau Latour-Martillac wine. The estate currently has 45 ha of vineyards, of which 35 ha are planted with red Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grape varieties and 10 ha with white Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle. Among the latter can be found some of the oldest Semillon vines throughout Bordeaux. Some trees are as old as 120 years. With the help of renowned Bordeaux wine consultants such as Denis Dubourdieu, Chateau Latour-Martillac wines soon became a fan and are ranked among the best wines of the Graves appellation.
