Red dry
Red wine – 100 % ‘Pinot Noir’
Rare, artisanal, and crafted in small quantities, the Domaine Bertagna Chambolle‑Musigny offers an exceptional glimpse into one of Burgundy’s most sought‑after terroirs. Considered the most elegant appellation of the Côte de Nuits, Chambolle‑Musigny is also one of the rarest and most precious.
The 2023 Domaine Bertagna Chambolle‑Musigny “Le Village” opens with graceful aromas of ripe cherries and fresh raspberries, touched by a hint of spice and a whisper of smoke. On the palate, it glides with silky elegance, revealing delicate tannins that frame the pure, vibrant fruit.
Chambolle‑Musigny Le Village is produced from ‘Pinot Noir’ grown on 0.39 hectares. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes are rigorously selected in the vineyard and on the sorting table in the winery.
Serve at 15–16 °C with duck in cherry sauce – the sweet‑and‑sour sauce highlights the wine’s fruitiness, veal medallions with mushrooms – the earthy notes complement the subtlety of Pinot Noir, or aged Comté cheese – the nuttiness accentuates the texture and finish of the wine.
Located in the commune of Vougeot within France’s renowned Burgundy region, the historic Domaine Bertagna boasts vineyards with a storied past, once belonging to the Cistercian monks of the nearby Abbey of Cîteaux, who famously founded Clos de Vougeot in the 12th century. The modern narrative of the Bertagna estate has been beautifully shaped by the fifth-generation winemaking Reh family.
While the extended Reh family owns several winemaking ventures globally, including Germany’s renowned Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, their footprint in Burgundy has steadily grown since 1954. Gunther Reh acquired Domaine Bertagna in 1982, and his dynamic daughter, Eva Reh, took over management of the estate in 1988.
Wine Style
Under Eva's direction, Domaine Bertagna has placed significant emphasis on fermentation technologies and modern vineyard management. Her winemaking philosophy highlights terroir expression, purity of fruit, intense aromatics, elegance, longevity, and subtle oak influence. These are precise Burgundy wines that beautifully articulate a classic style.
Prestigious Vineyards
Domaine Bertagna cultivates vineyards across 18 different appellations within Burgundy’s highly regarded Côte de Nuits region, with 12 of these being Premiers and Grands Crus. This quality and diversity have solidified the estate’s place among the top echelon of Burgundian domaines.
Aging and Enjoyment Period
Eva’s efforts have been abundantly rewarded with numerous 90+ point ratings from leading U.S. wine industry publications. While the acclaim is gratifying, Eva’s focus remains on crafting exceptional wines that offer the purest possible expression of their origin – the hallmark of a forward-thinking leader with the highest quality standards. These wines boast not only excellent current quality but also significant aging potential.
