Côte de Beaune expression of „Pinot Noir“, where the structure of the Corton hill, the minerality of limestone soils, and the elegance of the northern Aloxe-Corton vineyards come together. This is a wine that embodies the classic character of a Burgundy Grand Cru.
The aroma reveals notes of cherries, wild strawberries, blackcurrants, and ripe plums. These are complemented by violet flowers, forest floor, dried herbs, spices, and subtle earthy tones typical of mature „Pinot Noir“ wines. With time in the glass, graphite, tobacco, and delicate oak notes gradually emerge, adding further complexity to the aromatic profile.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, distinguished by its vibrant acidity, which preserves the freshness of the fruit and contributes to its ageing potential. The tannins are pronounced yet refined in texture, characteristic of a quality Corton Grand Cru. The flavour profile is dominated by ripe cherries, spices, and a mineral line.
Clos du Roy is one of the Corton Grand Cru climats, located on the slopes of Montagne de Corton within the Aloxe-Corton appellation. The vineyards are characterised by limestone and marl soils. The slope exposure helps maintain the balance of acidity, which is particularly important in producing Burgundy Grand Cru wines capable of long ageing.
The grapes at Domaine Antonin Guyon are harvested by hand, and the fruit is carefully selected before fermentation. The wine is made using traditional Burgundian methods, aiming to preserve the character of the specific terroir. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats, followed by ageing in French oak barrels.
Serve at 15–17 °C; pairs perfectly with wild mushroom risotto, roasted venison with cherry sauce, and aged Comté cheese.
One of Burgundy's largest family-owned wine estates, managing approximately 50 hectares of vineyards across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The estate was established in the 1960s, when Antonin Guyon began acquiring vineyard parcels in some of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations. Today, the family's holdings extend from Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny in the north to Meursault, Volnay, and Corton in the south, allowing the domaine to produce wines that reflect a wide range of Burgundian terroirs, from regional appellations to Grand Cru vineyards.
Particular attention is given to preserving the identity of each vineyard site. Grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, and all wines are vinified and aged at the estate. Red wines are fermented in wooden vats, while white wines are fermented in oak barrels. The ageing regime, including the proportion of new oak, is tailored to the origin and structure of each wine. Since 2018, Domaine Antonin Guyon has been certified organic, reflecting its long-term commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture.
The philosophy of Domaine Antonin Guyon is centred on expressing the unique character of each vineyard. Working exclusively with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the estate produces a portfolio dominated by Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines. Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately, preserving the distinctive identity of its terroir.
Today, the estate's vineyards span some of Burgundy's most renowned villages, including Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Aloxe-Corton, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, and Volnay. This geographical diversity enables Domaine Antonin Guyon to showcase the influence of Burgundy's varied soils, topography, and microclimates, offering a comprehensive expression of the Côte d'Or through its wines.
