Bouzeron – The Capital of the Aligoté Grape

While all of Burgundy is famous for its Chardonnay grapes, the village of Bouzeron is the only appellation that focuses its highest attention on the Aligoté variety. The vineyards here are situated on warmer, sunny slopes dominated by limestone and marl soils. This allows the berries to ripen perfectly while retaining their distinctive, crisp acidity and citrus freshness, which is far more pronounced here than in other parts of Burgundy.

Aroma and Flavor Profile

Bouzeron AOC wines amaze with their lightness and energy:

Food Pairing Suggestions

Thanks to its bright acidity and minerality, Bouzeron is a flawless gastronomic partner. It is the ideal wine for fresh oysters, shrimp, light fish, or spring vegetable salads. Traditionally in Burgundy, this wine is consumed as an aperitif, often paired with savory cheese puffs (gougères), goat cheeses, and various light wine snacks.

What is a Kir cocktail?

Although Bouzeron AOC wine is excellent on its own, historically, Aligoté wines in Burgundy were used to make the famous Kir cocktail—mixing the wine with a splash of blackcurrant liqueur (Crème de Cassis).

At what temperature should this wine be served?

Because it is a highly refreshing and crisp white wine, it is best served well chilled, at around 8–10 °C (46–50 °F), to maximally highlight its fruitiness and energy.
