Rhône Valley Classics and the Warmth of Grenache

The Côtes du Rhône appellation covers a vast territory, but the vast majority of its wines are produced in the southern part of the region, which enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate. This climate, along with the famous Mistral wind, helps cultivate perfectly ripe grapes. The standard red wine from this region is the result of the so-called GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre). Grenache adds warm fruitiness and strawberry aromas, Syrah provides black pepper and structure, while Mourvèdre brings deep color and herbal (garrigue) notes.

Versatility at Every Table

Thanks to its medium body, soft tannins, and fruit-forward profile, Côtes du Rhône is incredibly food-friendly and versatile. It is the perfect wine for meat, pairing flawlessly with grilled pork, burgers, sausages, or rich stews. This French wine is unpretentious and approachable—a true lifesaver when you need a single bottle that will please all your guests.

Are white or rosé wines produced in the Côtes du Rhône appellation?
Yes! While the vast majority (around 85%) of the production is red wine, the region also produces refreshing rosés and highly aromatic, round white wines (usually crafted from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne varieties).

What is the difference between Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages?
Wines with the Villages status come from more strictly defined villages with a superior microclimate. They are subject to stricter yield and aging regulations, meaning they are typically richer, more complex, and have greater cellaring potential.

Are these wines worth aging for many years?
Standard Côtes du Rhône wines are crafted to be enjoyed immediately, while they are young and full of vibrant fruit (within 1 to 3 years of the vintage). For longer aging, it is recommended to choose Villages level or Cru wines.
