Read moreWines from this appellation are highly versatile, so your choice largely depends on whether you are looking for a lighter everyday wine or a firmer, age-worthy bottle.
The vast majority of the selection consists of red Syrah wines. Those grown in the southern part on gravelly soils are lighter and fruitier, while the northern granite soils yield firmer, more tannic wines. It is also worth trying the rare, crisp white wines made from Marsanne and Roussanne grapes, which feature floral and stone fruit aromas.
Thanks to its spicy character, red Crozes-Hermitage is the perfect companion for meat dishes. It pairs fantastically with grilled beef, roasted lamb, and hearty meat stews. The white wines beautifully complement roasted poultry or richer fish dishes.
Most red wines from this appellation are designed to be consumed relatively early (within 3–5 years) to enjoy their fresh fruitiness. However, oak-aged wines from top producers can evolve in the cellar for 10 or more years.
