Innovations and Grapes of Dominio de Valdepusa

This estate went down in history as a pioneer of modern Spanish winemaking. Located at the foothills of the Mountains of Toledo, boasting unique limestone and clay soils, it was the first place in Spain to plant Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and the exceptionally successful Petit Verdot grapes. Furthermore, the estate was the first to implement advanced drip irrigation technologies. Dominio de Valdepusa wines stand out with incredibly deep color, silky texture, and intense aromas of black berries, minerals, and elegant oak. It perfectly blends French elegance with the fiery Spanish temperament.

What does the Vino de Pago status mean in Spain?
Vino de Pago is the highest tier of the Spanish wine classification system. It is awarded only to single, historically and geographically exceptional wine estates that demonstrate a unique microclimate, specific terroir, and consistently produce world-class wines of unmatched quality.

Does Dominio de Valdepusa wine need to be decanted?
Yes. Because these red wines are carefully aged in oak barrels and possess a firm, powerful structure, it is highly recommended to decant them for at least 1 to 2 hours before serving. This will soften the tannins and fully open up their complex bouquet of aromas.
