While the Lirac appellation produces wines of all three colors, it is most highly regarded for its red blends. The area is dominated by round pebble soils, very similar to those of the neighboring Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which helps the grapes ripen perfectly.

• Red wines: Crafted from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. They stand out with a full body, and aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, black pepper, and wild herbs.
• White wines: Smelling of white flowers and peaches, these are blended from Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Viognier. They feature a round texture and excellent freshness.

What food pairs well with Lirac wines?

These rich Southern French wines demand expressive cuisine:

• The reds beautifully complement slow-braised beef, game dishes, and fire-grilled meats. They also pair excellently with aged cheese.

Although the soils are very similar, Lirac wines tend to be slightly more fruit-forward and approachable earlier. Furthermore, they offer a much more attractive price point while maintaining the high quality standard of Rhône Valley wines.
