Terroir and Taste Characteristics

Located in the southern part of Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé region receives more sunlight than the Côte de Beaune, allowing its Chardonnay grapes to achieve greater ripeness. The limestone and rocky soils provide the necessary structure to the drink. In the glass, this wine entices with scents of ripe peaches, apricots, pineapples, and white flowers. Aging in oak barrels enriches it with nuances of toasted hazelnuts, butter, and vanilla, while maintaining a highly elegant, non-aggressive acidity.

What Food to Pair With?

Thanks to its rich body and pronounced fruitiness, Pouilly-Fuissé wine is incredibly versatile in the kitchen:

What is the difference between Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Fumé?
Although the names sound similar, they are entirely different wines. Pouilly-Fuissé is a white Burgundy made from Chardonnay grapes, offering a riper, rounder flavor profile. Pouilly-Fumé is produced in the Loire Valley from Sauvignon Blanc grapes and is characterized by crisp acidity and flinty (smoky) minerality.

Does this wine require long-term aging?
Most basic Pouilly-Fuissé wines are best enjoyed within the first 3–5 years while they retain their vibrant fruitiness. However, Premier Cru wines from top vineyards can beautifully evolve in the bottle for up to ten years.

What serving temperature highlights its best qualities?
Because the wine is quite weighty and complex, it is recommended to serve it chilled to 11–13 °C, but not too cold, so as not to mute the rich buttery and stone fruit aromas.
