Read moreAlthough the region is relatively close to the Mediterranean Sea, the climate of Utiel-Requena is strictly continental. The vineyards are situated at high altitudes (up to 900 meters), where hot summer days are followed by cold nights. These extreme conditions are perfectly suited for the Bobal grape. This variety, which makes up the vast majority of the region's plantings, is characterized by thick skins and late ripening. In the glass, it reveals a deep, almost opaque color, intense aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, chocolate, and spices, along with excellent, refreshing acidity.

Yes. Bobal wines that have been aged in oak barrels (Crianza or Reserva styles), in particular, possess excellent aging potential. Under proper conditions in a cellar, they can successfully evolve for 5 to 8 years, developing more complex notes of leather and tobacco.
While Bobal red wines are the absolute leaders, the region also produces very high-quality, brightly colored, and refreshing rosé wines, as well as a small quantity of crisp white wines from the Macabeo and Tardana varieties.
Because these are rather powerful and sun-kissed Spanish wines, it is recommended to serve them at 16–18 °C (60–64 °F). Younger wines can be briefly decanted to soften the tannins.
