Sweet dry
A dry white Bordeaux wine in which the aromatic intensity of ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ combines with a rich texture, freshness and the mineral character of the chalky Barsac terroir. The wine is produced by the Dubourdieu family, renowned for its expertise in white Bordeaux winemaking.
The nose reveals grapefruit, lemon zest and white peach, complemented by dried herbs, mint and subtle floral notes. The palate is concentrated and textured, with layers of white fruit, citrus and pear. Lively acidity adds tension, while chalky minerality and a long, refreshing finish preserve the wine’s precision and elegance.
The wine is made from 100% ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ grapes, carefully selected from different vineyard sites. Gentle pressing helps preserve aromatic purity, while fermentation takes place in oak barrels. The wine is subsequently aged on its lees, gaining additional texture and complexity.
Serve at a temperature of 10–12 °C, paired with scallops sautéed in lemon butter, grilled sole with herbs, or a salad of goat cheese and asparagus.
A ripe, showy style, with piecrust, meringue and lemon curd notes that drape together, while flashes of sweetened butter, mango and papaya emerge through the finish. A hint of bitter orange adds a groundwire on the finish. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2050. 1,800 cases made, 20 cases imported.
A historic winery in the Barsac appellation, closely associated with the Dubourdieu family and its long-standing expertise in white Bordeaux wines. The estate was acquired by Georges Dubourdieu in 1924 and later passed to his son Pierre, who created the dry white wine “Grand Vin Sec” in the 1950s. Today, the family tradition is continued by the fourth generation, Fabrice and Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu.
The vineyards are located on the higher part of the Barsac plateau, where clay and limestone soils predominate. These geological conditions contribute to the structure and minerality of the wines, while careful vineyard management helps preserve aromatic intensity and natural freshness. “Château Doisy-Daëne” produces both sweet Barsac wines and the dry white “Grand Vin Sec”, which reveals a different expression of this terroir.
The estate’s philosophy is based on precise winemaking and respect for the distinctive character of each plot. The dry white wine is made from ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ grapes, while fermentation and ageing in oak barrels contribute texture and complexity. This approach aims to maintain a balance between the variety’s characteristic aromatic intensity, freshness and the subtle influence of oak ageing.
