White dry
This wine draws its strength and energy from the gravelly, limestone soils on the western bank of the Garonne river. The wine captivates with an intense and vibrant honey-yellow colour. The aromatic bouquet is intensely fruity, dominated by exotic fruit notes: apricots, mangoes, peaches, passion fruit, ripe melons, pears and honey. Rich and well-balanced on the palate. The wine is aged for several months in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
Serve at 8–10 °C with white meat with baked apricots or pineapple, desserts, blue cheese, duck liver or goose liver.
Château du Levant is a prominent symbol of French sweet wines, established in the prestigious Barsac-Sauternes appellation, where the combination of terroir and climate creates a unique environment for the production of rich, concentrated sweet wines.
The history of Château du Levant is closely linked to the wine culture of the Barsac region and its long-standing traditions. This area is renowned for its exceptional microclimate, with morning mists rising above the waters of the Gironde estuary, encouraging the natural development of Botrytis cinerea (noble rot). This is an essential process that enables the creation of local sweet wines with an expressive aromatic and flavor profile.
The Barsac appellation, home to Château du Levant, is distinguished by its unique terroir: soils composed of calcareous sands, gravel deposits, and layers of clay. These soils give the wines an outstanding mineral structure, help maintain the natural balance of the grapes, and enhance aromatic intensity. The vineyards are planted on well-drained slopes that make optimal use of sunlight, ensuring even and gradual ripening.
At Château du Levant, production is based primarily on hand-harvesting, with each plot carefully managed to ensure that only perfectly ripe, Botrytis-affected grapes are selected. As a result, every vintage is meticulously sorted, guaranteeing the highest level of quality and authenticity.
Fermentation takes place under carefully controlled conditions, and the wines are aged in neutral vessels or oak barrels to preserve their natural elegance and purity.
The wines of Château du Levant are celebrated for their deep sweetness, elegant acidity, and a complex aromatic palette. Typical notes include ripe peaches, apricots, honey, and citrus peel, complemented by delicate hints of spices.
These wines are appreciated not only for their flavor but also for their excellent ageing potential, allowing them to mature gracefully for decades while retaining their distinctive character.
