"Château Rauzan-Ségla" 2023 is one of the most highly anticipated and intriguing wines of the Margaux appellation. This "2ème Cru Classé" estate, owned by the legendary Chanel fashion house and now in its third year of transition to organic viticulture, has created a masterpiece of exceptional depth and elegance in 2023. According to experts, this wine's style perfectly balances the dark character of "Palmer" with the ethereal nature of "Château Margaux".
The wine reveals a highly expressive aroma, intertwining notes of incense, chalky minerality, spring peonies, and dandelion flowers, accompanied by a bright waft of blackcurrants (cassis), dark plums, and cherries.
On the palate, the wine demonstrates a creamy dark berry texture, density, and astounding freshness. It is an incredibly balanced, juicy, and precisely polished wine, whose structure gradually segues into a long, resonant finish with pure, silky, and velvety tannins.
This year's vintage stands out with a special blend – utilizing a full 85% of 'Cabernet Sauvignon' grapes (the highest proportion of this variety in the estate's history), harmoniously complemented by 'Merlot' and 'Petit Verdot'. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 55% of which are entirely new.
We recommend serving the 2023 Château Rauzan-Ségla at a temperature of 16–18 °C; it will pair perfectly with roast leg of lamb, Beef Wellington, or a delicate duck breast with plum sauce.
Chateau Rauzan-Segla tops the list of manufacturers in their class, and around Bordeaux is second only to recognized grants, such as Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Haut-Brion and Mouton Rothschild. Chateau Rauzan-Segla always had a reputation potentially excellent wine producer, but since the early 80s proved it in practice, began releasing a series of wines of the highest quality, which has continued to do. History of Rauzan-Segla began under King Louis XIV in 1661, when Pierre de Rauzan became the owner of the estate. Pierre was very rich and powerful man with an excellent reputation among wine merchants Bordeaux region. For many years, generations of families Rosanne successfully managed the estate, turning it into a prosperous and thriving winery.
