A Pommard 1er Cru from the „Les Chanlins“ vineyard, one of the higher-elevation crus on the Pommard slope, bordering Volnay. The wine offers a somewhat more elegant expression of Pommard, combining pronounced black fruit character with freshness, minerality and a firm yet refined tannic structure.
The nose reveals notes of black cherries, blackberries and redcurrants, complemented by violets, spices, tobacco and subtle earthy nuances. The fruit profile is intense yet remains fresh, while lightly toasted oak and mineral notes add further depth.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, concentrated and lively, with pronounced acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins. The flavours of black and red fruits are complemented by spice, minerality and a light chalky character. The finish is long and dry, with lingering fruit and mineral notes. The tannic structure gives the wine further ageing potential in bottle.
„Les Chanlins“ is a Pommard 1er Cru vineyard in the southern part of Pommard, located higher up the slope and bordering Volnay. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone, with the limestone contributing minerality and structure to the wine. The grapes for the 2017 vintage were hand-harvested by Domaine Parent, with a portion fermented as whole clusters, and the wine was aged in French oak barrels.
Serve at a temperature of 16–17 °C; pairs well with roasted duck, beef with mushroom sauce, and aged Époisses cheese.
“Domaine Parent” is a family-owned estate in the village of Pommard, Côte de Beaune, with a history dating back to the 17th century. The family worked in Volnay for five generations before moving to Pommard in 1803. Today, the estate is run by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent, representing the twelfth generation of the family.
The estate owns around 10 hectares of vineyards in Côte de Beaune, where 'Pinot Noir' and 'Chardonnay' are grown. Pommard wines account for around two-thirds of the estate’s production. In addition to Pommard, “Domaine Parent” produces wines from the appellations of Corton, Ladoix, Beaune and Monthélie, including Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines.
The vineyards are farmed using organic and biodynamic methods. The estate has been certified organic since 2013, while biodynamic principles have been used for almost fifteen years. The vineyards are partly ploughed, while the Premier Cru and Grand Cru parcels are worked with horses. The soils vary depending on the parcel, with predominantly clay-limestone soils, marl and red clay.
The character of “Domaine Parent” is shaped above all by the diversity of the climats in Pommard and across Côte de Beaune, which the estate seeks to express through wines from individual vineyard sites. Pommard holds a particularly important place, with the family interpreting it not only as a powerful and structured wine, but also as one capable of greater precision and subtlety.
