PO’ di Poli Morbida Smooth is an aromatic grappa made from the ‘Orange Muscat’ grape variety, created to preserve the most delicate, primary aromas of the grape. This line dates back to 1995, when Jacopo Poli, breaking the distillery’s long tradition of working mainly with red grape marc, chose ‘Moscato’ from the Colli Euganei hills. It is a grape whose aroma is so clear that it is easy to recognize even without experience. Its aromatic signature is shaped by terpenes, characteristic of the so-called “aromatic” varieties.
The name PO’ was born from a simple, very Italian situation: the first distillations delivered excellent quality, but an extremely small yield. During each distillation, his father would ask, “How much are you getting?”, and the answer was always the same: “un po’…” (“a little”). After many such “un po’…”, a small tank was finally filled, and his father, after tasting, said: “This grappa is good. At last—after so many PO’s—you did it.” That is how “PO’” became not only a name, but also an idea of patience, persistence, and precision in aromatic grappa.
PO’ di Poli Morbida is artisanally distilled in small batches. Gentle, controlled heating helps keep the aromas clean and prevents the subtle Muscat notes from being “burnt”. Even the bottle design has a clear purpose: the narrow neck and a special lightning-style cap were chosen to protect the most volatile aromas and “lock” them inside as effectively as possible.
On the nose, this grappa recalls a springtime citrus grove: oranges, tangerines, and fresh, juicy fruitiness, lifted by a light hint of a slice of pineapple. On the palate, it is rounded and soft, clean and lively, with bright citrus freshness and a subtle sense of sweetness on the nose, while the grappa itself remains dry and precise. The finish is fresh and fruity, never overwhelming, inviting you back to the glass.
We recommend serving it at 10–15 °C in a tulip-shaped glass, so the aromatic profile opens up with clarity and ease.
Poli Distillerie – A Legacy of Italian Grappa Passion Since 1898
It all began in 1898, when straw hat maker GioBatta Poli, driven by a passion for grappa, built a small still and began visiting local winemakers to distill the leftover grape pomace after winemaking. What started as a modest hobby soon became a family tradition, carried on by his sons and now passionately upheld by his grandson, Jacopo Poli – one of Italy’s most renowned modern grappa producers.
Craftsmanship and an Unwavering Commitment to Quality
At the Poli distillery, located in the Veneto region, five core principles guide every aspect of production:
Only fresh, healthy raw material is used – delivered daily in quantities that can be processed immediately.
The pomace is distilled without delay – never stored.
Distillation is performed using traditional copper stills and historical methods.
Every step is carried out with dedication and true craftsmanship.
Deep respect is shown to both the product and the consumer.
A Taste That Speaks for Itself
These principles enable the Poli family to produce grappas of remarkable quality – from soft and floral to more intense expressions rich in spice and fruit notes. Poli grappas and liqueurs are recognized and celebrated around the world, proudly featured on the menus of top-tier restaurants. They stand as a true symbol of Italian distilling artistry.
