Poli Ruta is a grappa with natural botanicals, where Italian distilling craftsmanship and a true herbal character come through clearly. It is made with sprigs of rue (Ruta graveolens)—an aromatic plant known since ancient times for its digestive-friendly properties and surrounded by legends of “magic”: traditionally, its cross-shaped flower was believed to protect and ward off evil.
In production, a natural infusion of rue sprigs is made in grappa distilled in copper stills with steam boilers. This artisanal distillation approach helps preserve clean, precise aromatics, while the rue naturally releases essential oils during infusion, giving the spirit a fresh, invigorating profile.
On the nose, Poli Ruta is intense and exceptionally pure, reminiscent of medicinal herbs—as if you had just rubbed fresh botanicals between your hands in a botanic garden. On the palate it is dry and herbal, with a pleasantly bitter, refreshing finish that lingers clearly.
Serve at 10–15 °C in a tulip-shaped glass—as a post-dinner digestif, or for those who appreciate a more vivid, “green” botanical style.

It all began in 1898, when straw hat maker GioBatta Poli, driven by a passion for grappa, built a small still and began visiting local winemakers to distill the leftover grape pomace after winemaking. What started as a modest hobby soon became a family tradition, carried on by his sons and now passionately upheld by his grandson, Jacopo Poli – one of Italy’s most renowned modern grappa producers.
