"Cantine Polvanera" is a modern and innovative wine estate from the sunny Puglia region in Italy. This producer has gained fame for its unique approach to local grapes, especially Primitivo. Discover natural, organic red wine characterized by incredible freshness and elegance, which is often missing in southern Italian wines.
Read moreLocated in the Gioia del Colle zone, the estate maintains its vineyards under strict organic requirements. However, their greatest distinction lies in the cellar—only stainless steel is used for fermentation and aging. By completely abandoning oak barrels, the beverages preserve pure fruitiness, crisp acidity, and minerality stemming from the limestone soil.
The producer's calling card is Primitivo. The numbers on the labels (e.g., 14, 16, 17) indicate the alcohol by volume, which naturally reflects the harvest of different, old vines. These are beverages smelling of dark berries, blackberries, thyme, and balsamic notes. The estate also creates excellent wines from Aglianico, Aleatico, and Minutolo varieties.
Due to its juiciness and freshness, this Italian creation is perfect for hearty dinners. It wonderfully complements meatballs in tomato sauce, charcoal-grilled pork, and aged cheeses. For an ideal Italian evening, we recommend pairing it with cured meats from our wine snacks selection.
What do the numbers on "Polvanera" bottles mean?
The numbers (e.g., 14, 16, 17) indicate the alcohol percentage. The higher the number, the more intense the wine, produced from older vines (sometimes up to 70 years old) and more concentrated.
Is this wine suitable for vegans?
Yes, the estate follows organic farming principles and does not use animal-derived products in the production process, making it vegan-friendly.
