Chateau Soleil

1–3 of 3

Château Soleil is a wine estate in the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion appellation, located on the right bank of the Bordeaux region, close to the historic town of Saint-Émilion. This appellation is considered one of the better-known satellite zones, where the classic Saint-Émilion style combines with a distinct local terroir character.

The estate covers around 15–20 hectares of vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils. This type of terroir allows the grapes to achieve an excellent balance between concentration and freshness, which is a key element in creating the complexity of classic Bordeaux red wines.

Château Soleil wines are produced from traditional Bordeaux red grape varieties: ‘Merlot’ (around 80%), complemented by ‘Cabernet Franc’ (around 10%) and ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (around 10%). The ‘Merlot’ component gives the wines body and richness, while ‘Cabernet Franc’ and ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ contribute structure, aromatic depth, and fine tannins. The average age of the vines is approximately 30 years, helping to obtain a more balanced and mature harvest.

The grapes are usually harvested by hand to ensure the selection of only the best fruit. Fermentation takes place in cement tanks, which help preserve the natural flavour profile and aromatic intensity, and the wines are then aged in French oak barrels, often with around 80% new oak, providing additional structure and subtle spicy nuances.

Château Soleil produces classic red wines that combine fruity aromas, structured tannins, and an elegant framework, allowing them to mature for several years. The wines are sold both on the French market and exported to other countries, and their style is known for a good balance between the character of traditional Bordeaux varieties and the expression of the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion terroir.
