Since 2005, the Kavalan distillery in the scenic Yilan County has pioneered the art of single malt whisky in Taiwan. The brand takes its name from the old indigenous name for the region. Supported by the King Car Group, entrepreneur Tien-Tsai Lee set an ambitious goal to create a century-lasting legacy. He drew inspiration from top Scottish and Japanese distilleries and collaborated with the late, renowned whisky expert Dr. Jim Swan to perfect the craft.
