A young yet expressive single malt whisky bottled by Douglas Laing, the independent Scottish family company renowned for its ability to select authentic and characterful casks. This release reveals the true identity of the Benrinnes Distillery – a rich Speyside style where malt purity, gentle fruitiness, and a soft layer of spice come together in harmony.
The Benrinnes Distillery is located near Aberlour, at the foot of Ben Rinnes Mountain, in the heart of the Speyside region. Thanks to its mild climate and pure mountain water, whiskies from this area are known for their bright, elegant, and lightly sweet profile. This 8-year-old expression was matured in ex-bourbon casks to preserve its fresh, malty, and natural character. Like all whiskies in the Provenance series, it is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.
The nose offers notes of pear, apple, honey, vanilla, and citrus zest, followed by a background of fresh malt, milk chocolate, and delicate spice. The aroma feels youthful yet balanced and refined.
On the palate, the whisky is smooth, malty, and refreshing, showing tones of caramel, green apple, honey, and vanilla cream. As it develops, a gentle oak spice and a hint of citrus brightness emerge, adding structure and liveliness. The finish is medium in length, clean and slightly sweet, with hints of malted bread and vanilla.
A bright, elegant, and approachable Speyside whisky, ideal for those wishing to experience the true essence of Benrinnes without smoke or heavy aging. Provenance Benrinnes 8 YO is light yet expressive, perfectly capturing the energy of youth and the subtlety of the region’s character.
