Fruit and berry semi dry
The quality of GERŲ METŲ products is family-controlled from berry cultivation to the final product, naturally and by hand. Picked from the tree or bush, the fruits travel to the winery without delay, so they are exceptionally fresh and retain all their beneficial properties.
Rowanberries are particularly rich in nutrients — they contain more provitamin A than carrots and more vitamin C than lemons, along with organic acids, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and iron, tannins, the rarer vitamin E, iodine, essential oils, minerals and trace elements.
Juice fermentation and maceration were carried out in stainless steel tanks. The wine was briefly aged in French oak barrels. Unfiltered.
Intense pink in colour. The aromas are dominated by wild strawberries, redcurrants, cranberries, blueberries and violets, with delicate hints of fresh culinary herbs — basil and sage.
On the palate, the wine reveals a fruity, refreshing character, excellent balance, crisp acidity and pleasant tannins.
Each newly bottled batch of wine is given its own number (in this case No. 25) — identified as a flavour number, which is consistently different from one batch to the next.
Approximately 800 bottles are produced.
Residual sugar content is approximately 13.2 g/l.
Serve at 8–12 °C with light appetizers, white fish or soft cheeses.
“Geri metai” – unveiling the hidden potential of rowan berries
“Geri metai” is a family-owned estate that has been cultivating rowan orchards for more than five years and, in 2022, introduced its first rowan berry wines to the market.
“Our goal is to reveal the potential of the rowan berry while preserving its natural character and expression of terroir,” says Giedrius Kaukas, the owner of the estate.
The wines are never heated, filtered, or artificially clarified. Every stage – from harvest to aging – is carried out by hand, ensuring that only the purest and most authentic expression of the fruit reaches the bottle.
The estate is home to 14 different rowan berry varieties, whose fruits vary in color (from bright orange to almost black), taste, and aroma. As a result, the “Geri metai” portfolio includes white, rosé, orange, amber, red, and purple rowan wines – each with a distinctive character.
Rowan wines are true, wine-like expressions: alongside the unique character of rowan berries, one can also detect notes of citrus, dried fruit, wild berries, and gentle spice. On the palate, the wines range from refreshing acidity and a light body to richer, more expressive tones, depending on the style.
The wines are made exclusively from rowan berries – without the addition of any other fruits or berries. They may contain only naturally occurring sulfites.
