White dry
One of Olivier Leflaive’s estate vineyards, “Clos Saint-Marc”, produces this concentrated yet fresh 'Chardonnay', revealing the mineral character typical of Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru and the influence of its calcareous terroir.
The nose shows citrus and fresh almond, while the palate is marked by fresh acidity, minerality and a dynamic texture. The wine is intense yet retains freshness and tension.
The “Clos Saint-Marc” vineyard is part of the 1er Cru “Les Vergers” area in the Chassagne-Montrachet AOC. Planted in 1996, the vineyard covers 1.70 hectares and lies at an altitude of 230–250 metres. Its soil consists of calcareous clay that is red and stony, characteristic of this part of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vines have an average age of 30 years, and the grapes are harvested by hand. The vineyard is farmed according to the HVE 3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale) standard.
The wine is made from 'Chardonnay'. The grapes are used whole, and both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels. The wine is aged for 18 months: 6 months in stainless-steel tanks and the remaining time in oak barrels, 25% of which are new.
Serve at 12-14°C with fresh salmon seasoned with dill, crayfish in a creamy sauce, scallops and intensely flavoured cheeses.
The name "Olivier Leflaive" is very well known to Burgundy lovers. The roots of this family, deeply embedded in the Puligny-Montrachet soil, date back to 1717, but it was not until the 20th century that Joseph Leflaive began actively cultivating the family winery and traditions. His vision was simple but grand – to create top-quality Burgundy wines that would reflect the unique terroir of the region.
His son Olivier, having inherited the family traditions, founded his own estate in 1984, named after himself. This step allowed him to experiment not only with white wines but also with red wines, expanding the family's holdings. In 2010, "Olivier Leflaive" regained its long-cherished vineyards, which had been leased to "Domaine Leflaive" for 18 years. Today, the estate boasts 15 hectares of prestigious vineyards in the Puligny, Chassagne, and Meursault regions.
The year 2023 marks a new chapter in the history of "Olivier Leflaive" – after a long and impressive career, technical director Franck Grux retired. His place was taken by the talented winemaker Solène Panigai, who will undoubtedly continue the traditions of this house and continue to create exceptional Burgundy wines.
