Ridge Pagani Ranch Zinfandel 2022 is a rich, concentrated and elegantly balanced California red wine from the historic Pagani Ranch vineyard in Sonoma Valley. The majority of the old vines here were planted between 1896 and 1922, so the wine is characterized not only by intense fruitiness, but also by exceptional depth of flavor and texture.
In the glass, rich aromas of raspberry, blackberry and ripe cherry unfold, complemented by notes of orange peel, dried herbs, white pepper and sweet spices. The taste is intense and multi-layered, but still refreshing - silky tannins are combined with firm acidity, and hints of dark berries, honeycomb and spices remain on the long aftertaste.
The grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation takes place using natural yeast, and the wine is aged for 14 months in American oak barrels, 15% of which are new.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 16–18 °C. It goes well with grilled beef, pork ribs, slow-braised meat, BBQ dishes, aged cheeses or rich mushroom dishes.
Though born in the early sixties (In 1962, Ridge made its first Monte Bello, two years later - Zinfandel) to the post-Prohibition world of modern California winemaking, Ridge relies on nature and tradition rather than technology. Our pre-industrial approach is straightforward: find intense, flavorful grapes; intrude upon the process only when necessary; draw the fruit’s distinctive character and richness into the wine.Interestingly, Monte Bello has often been called America’s First Growth, as it is the finest domestic example of a classic Bordeaux blend in which cabernet sauvignon predominates.
