White dry
A collectible Australian white wine valued by professionals. It is crafted from the historic HVD (Hunter Valley Distillery) vineyard, where vines were planted back in 1908. Due to the old, dry-grown vines and the exceptional 2018 vintage, this wine features particularly high concentration and aging potential. It is a perfect choice for those seeking a premium, complex white wine.
On the palate, the wine is savory and soft, characterized by expressive minerality and harmonious, relatively gentle acidity. The smaller 2018 harvest gave the wine concentration, exceptional richness, and a long-lasting finish.
Situated between two dry creek beds, the HVD vineyard features ideal conditions for growing Semillon grapes. The area is dominated by free-draining sandy soil over a layer of coarse river sand. The vines are grown naturally (without additional irrigation).
Serve at 10–12 °C with fresh seafood, roasted poultry dishes, or aged cheeses.
The 2018 HVD Semillon is slightly darker in the glass than the 2023 side by side, but not appreciably so. It's slow to evolve. 2018 was a very early, warm vintage. Early in the Hunter is quite early: the fruit for this 2018 HVD Semillon was picked on January 11. The HVD vineyard is usually picked after Chardonnay and before the Belford vineyard. This is rich, textural and toasty, and the flavors feel as if they blanket the tongue. It's a rich, dry wine, with a wide texture and long drive. 12.2% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Tyrrell's is one of the founding members of Australia's First Families of Wine. Since 1971, Tyrrell's has won more than 5,000 trophies and medals, and was named Winery of the Year by James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion in 2010.
