Red dry
An ambassador of balance, elegance, and freshness from Ribera Del Duero, the Áster winery is located in the very heart of the Ribera del Duero region.
This medium-intensity wine offers aromas of blackberries, redcurrants, black plums, cedar, liquorice, black pepper, and nutmeg. It is a smooth with a long finish, and a fruity wine.
The wine is a blend from four separate vineyards growing in silty clay soil at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level. The harvest is done in the early mornings and only by hand, with a double sorting. Fermentation and maceration took place for 16 days, constantly maintaining a temperature of 28°C. After fermentation, the wine was kept in French oak barrels for 2 months, with 'batonnage' – stirring of the wine lees – performed every week during this period.
The wine was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (70% of which were new).
Recommended with appetizers, vegetables and rice dishes. Poultry and game birds. Fish stews. Mature cheese. Roast lamb and suckling lamb.
A very good-value Ribera del Duero that shows vibrancy, structure and fruit. Minerals, hibiscus, fresh cherries and spiced berries. Fine-grained and full-bodied. Firm and densely packed with tannins, but nothing heavy. Drink or hold.
Bodegas La Rioja Alta is undoubtedly a representative of old Rioja, exceptionally valuing and cultivating the region's traditional winemaking methods. Their “Gran Reserva” wine is aged for no less than six years in barrel and a further two years in bottle before reaching the consumer, embodying patience and mastery. The high-altitude vineyards of La Rioja Alta, with their unique conditions, lend a subtlety to the wines, sometimes even reminiscent of Burgundy’s ‘Pinot Noir’. While the La Rioja Alta group also includes wineries in Galicia (Rias Baixas) and Ribera del Duero (Burgos), it is their traditional Rioja style that remains their hallmark.
