Red dry
If you are looking for a classic and elegant expression of the Bordeaux Right Bank at an accessible price point, this organically certified Château La Croix Saint Vincent is the perfect choice. Hailing from the highly favorable 2019 vintage, it offers an ideal opportunity to enjoy the iconic plushness and softness of the Pomerol appellation.
The nose reveals a very pure, elegant aroma of red berries, which, after a moment of breathing, is complemented by subtle notes of vanilla, licorice, and the light truffle hints characteristic of a classic Pomerol. On the palate, the wine impresses with its complexity while maintaining a round and soft character. A perfect balance is struck by very ripe, velvety tannins and a long, harmonious finish.
The wine is born in a small, 8-hectare vineyard situated on the southern slope of the Pomerol plateau. The soil is dominated by fine gravel, sand, and a specific iron-rich subsoil (known as crasse de fer), which imparts exceptional complexity to the wine. As is typical for the region, the blend is based on Merlot, which brings roundness and notes of dark fruit. It is masterfully complemented by Cabernet Franc (adding structure and spice), while historically, small proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec have also occasionally found their way into the estate's blends. The harvest is picked and sorted entirely by hand.
The wine is aged in French oak barrels (a portion of which are entirely new) for 11 to 15 months.
Serve this wine at a temperature of 16-18°C, paired wonderfully with roasted duck breast, a classic beef Wellington, or an earthy wild mushroom risotto.
