Closérie Saint-Roc is a modern and distinctive Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wine estate in the Bordeaux region, standing out for its clearly expressed terroir and elegant, structured style of wines. The estate focuses on meticulous vineyard management and precise winemaking, aiming to convey the authentic character of Saint-Émilion in every bottle.
The vineyards of Closérie Saint-Roc are located in a typical Saint-Émilion environment, where a combination of clay, limestone, and gravel soils prevails. This mosaic ensures good drainage and an even distribution of heat, allowing the vines to ripen harmoniously and maintain a natural balance between concentration and freshness. The estate’s vineyards cover approximately 20–25 hectares, carefully managed so that each plot can reveal its individual potential.
Closérie Saint-Roc wines are crafted from the traditional right-bank Bordeaux blend. The foundation is ‘Merlot’, which provides roundness, fruit character, and texture to the wines. It is complemented by ‘Cabernet Franc’, adding aromatic complexity and elegance, as well as a small proportion of ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, which contributes structure and ageing potential. This combination makes it possible to create harmonious, multi-layered wines that develop well over time.
The harvest is carried out by hand in order to select only the best and most perfectly ripe grapes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks, helping to preserve fruit freshness and aromatic purity. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new.
Closérie Saint-Roc wines are characterized by a clear balance between fruit expression and structure. Aromas often reveal notes of dark berries, cherries, and spices, while on the palate the wines are elegant, with softening tannins and an expressive texture. Thanks to well-integrated acidity and structure, these wines have good ageing potential and can develop beautifully for several years or even decades.
Although Closérie Saint-Roc is not classified among the elite Saint-Émilion rankings, it is appreciated for its consistent quality and authentic style. The estate’s wines frequently receive positive reviews from critics, and their quality-to-price ratio is often highlighted as one of the most attractive options for those seeking a genuine, terroir-focused expression of Saint-Émilion.
