Red dry
A Pinot Noir with the classic character of Pommard, from Domaine Parent, one of the oldest family estates in Pommard. „Les Argillières“ is a 1er Cru vineyard, while the 2017 vintage now gives the wine a noticeable maturity while retaining freshness and vibrant fruit. A good choice for those looking for Burgundy where structure and minerality meet a more elegant, lighter texture.
The nose reveals notes of black cherries, raspberries and blackberries, complemented by violets, spices, liquorice and subtle earthy nuances. The fruit remains clear and fresh, while ageing adds further complexity.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, dry and fresh, with lively acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. The ripe red and black fruit character is complemented by light spiciness and a mineral feel. The finish is long, dry and fruity, with subtle earthy notes.
The „Les Argillières“ vineyard is located in the Pommard 1er Cru area of Côte de Beaune, close to „Les Epenots“. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone, giving the wine structure and mineral character. The 2017 vintage was aged in the cellars of Domaine Parent, with oak used in a way that preserves the fruit and freshness of the Pinot Noir.
Serve at a temperature of 16–17 °C; pairs well with duck breast, veal with mushrooms, and grilled pork ribs.
“Domaine Parent” is a family-owned estate in the village of Pommard, Côte de Beaune, with a history dating back to the 17th century. The family worked in Volnay for five generations before moving to Pommard in 1803. Today, the estate is run by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent, representing the twelfth generation of the family.
The estate owns around 10 hectares of vineyards in Côte de Beaune, where 'Pinot Noir' and 'Chardonnay' are grown. Pommard wines account for around two-thirds of the estate’s production. In addition to Pommard, “Domaine Parent” produces wines from the appellations of Corton, Ladoix, Beaune and Monthélie, including Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines.
The vineyards are farmed using organic and biodynamic methods. The estate has been certified organic since 2013, while biodynamic principles have been used for almost fifteen years. The vineyards are partly ploughed, while the Premier Cru and Grand Cru parcels are worked with horses. The soils vary depending on the parcel, with predominantly clay-limestone soils, marl and red clay.
The character of “Domaine Parent” is shaped above all by the diversity of the climats in Pommard and across Côte de Beaune, which the estate seeks to express through wines from individual vineyard sites. Pommard holds a particularly important place, with the family interpreting it not only as a powerful and structured wine, but also as one capable of greater precision and subtlety.
