Chateau Pape Clement Rouge Pessac-Leognan AOC 2023

"Château Pape Clément" is a prestigious red Bordeaux wine from one of the oldest estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, with a winemaking history dating back to 1252. Named after Pope Clement V, this exceptional wine represents a perfect harmony of centuries-old tradition and modern winemaking precision.

In the glass, it reveals an enticing bouquet of dark fruits, featuring blackcurrants, blackberries, and cherries, harmoniously layered with subtle notes of violets and licorice. On the palate, the wine demonstrates remarkable freshness, perfectly integrated silky tannins, and an exceptionally long, elegant finish.

The wine is crafted from vines averaging 31 years of age, planted on unique Pyrenean clay-gravel soils. The vineyard is meticulously managed on a micro-parcel basis to ensure the optimal quality of each plot. Furthermore, the estate holds the highest Level 3 environmental certification, highlighting its strict commitment to sustainable viticulture. The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates, sorted directly in the vineyard, and undergo manual destemming followed by a rigorous second sorting on tables. Both malolactic fermentation and the subsequent 18-month aging process take place in oak barrels.

It is recommended to serve at 16–18 °C. To allow the complex aromas to fully open, it is advisable to decant the wine for 1–2 hours before tasting. It pairs perfectly with roasted red meats, classic game dishes, wild mushrooms, and mature cheeses.
