Read moreThe town of Beaune is not only Burgundy's commercial hub but also one of the region's largest vineyard areas, where a vast majority of the land holds the prestigious Premier Cru status. The red wine produced here from Pinot Noir stands out with delicate aromas of red berries, cherries, spices, and a velvety texture. Though less common, the appellation's white wine from Chardonnay delights with richness, white flowers, and toasted nut notes.
Because of their softer structure, Beaune red wines are highly flexible with food pairings. It is a fantastic wine for meat, pairing beautifully with roast duck breast, pheasant, tender veal, or traditional French stews. It also makes an excellent, highly valuable wine gift for true collectors.
How long can Beaune Premier Cru wines be cellared?
These wines boast excellent longevity. The best red examples successfully evolve in a cellar for 8 to 15 years, and even longer in exceptional vintages.
How does Beaune differ from Côte de Nuits wines?
Generally, Beaune (from the Côte de Beaune subregion) red wines are somewhat more open, feature softer tannins, and mature faster than the more powerful and massive wines from the northern Côte de Nuits villages.
Should this wine be decanted?
It is recommended to decant young wines for about an hour before serving to let their floral and fruity aromas unfold. Older wines are best poured directly into the glass.
